Kikujiro and Kitano Movies Movie Review Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Kikujiro and Kitano Movies - Movie Review Example Indeed, as a follow up to his most notable work "Hana-bi," or "Fireworks," this film seems to have gone unnoticed for the most part because of its veering toward the usual Disney-like story of a crabby old man hitting the road with a dejected kid, but then, we're talking about Kitano. He was able to make the movie look fresh, original, and even surprising. He was also able to show that his works shouldn't be stereotyped at all to the yakuza films he made, which are filled with "juxtapositions of life and death, ugly violence and beautiful serenity - and usually end bleakly with suicide." The movie may be looked into as somewhat having two unique parts, with the first part the more gilt-edged portion. The first half focuses on the journey for the most part. The audience follow the seemingly incompatible pair through various risky adventures such as when they hitchhiked and raced among cyclists. Everything else that happen afterwards has its foundation on the search for Masao's estranged mother in another part of Japan and surprisingly brings on laughs. The second part isn't that quite spectacular though. ... The result is that some scenes became a drag to some because of repetitive scenes of adults acting like children such as when Kikujiro forms an assorted crew of misfits to play with Masao and have them dress up as aliens, Indians, marine life and even watermelons. Nevertheless, with Kitano's concept of building a friendship between the most unlikely of people, it really makes for an admirable and interesting story. It is also interesting to note that Masao's scrapbook seems to provide the structure for the movie giving each chapter a fair description. Each chapter offers a well-defined character that is, in different turns, hilarious, playful, surreal, disturbing, and heartbreaking. For one, Kitano is bold enough to use a child molester as an unlikely source of black humor and subject of any child's nightmare. The variations in tone between the chapters help in orchestrating unexpected tonal shifts and works to add to the context of the story. The theme: Alienation and inclusion Kitano was also able to look into the theme of both alienation and inclusion in his very own Japanese society. In fact, the two main characters, and even most of those who help the duo along their journey, can all be considered as unwanted by the society as they were not really a part of any conventional family or group structure. The characters, on the other hand, who live a more unquestioned lifestyles are frequently conflicting with the movie's protagonists. At the onset of the story, Kikujiro reacts to their alienation with anger while the nine-year old Masao with sadness. But along their expedition, they begin to discover similarities between themselves and the circumstances in Toyohashi become a turning point for the protagonists to

Nothing seems to have been forgotten, nothing overlooked. Robert Frosts Love and a Question, Mending Wall, and Home Burial Essay
Robert Frost's "Love and a Question," "Mending Wall," and "Home Burial" In Robert Frostââ¬â¢s poems ââ¬Å"Love and a Question,â⬠ââ¬Å"Mending Wall,â⬠and ââ¬Å"Home Burial,â⬠there is a significant barrier present between man and man or woman. Conflict between people is a major theme for these poems, and it alters the outcome of them. There is a great deal of tension present between the characters, causing unstable relationships, as well as a desire for no relationship at all. These three poems are based around knowing that conflict is inevitable, and it evidently causes a desire for little to no human interaction. In ââ¬Å"Love and a Question,â⬠there is tension between man and man and man and woman. The bridegroom is faced with a decision on whether to provide shelter to a stranger for the night and sacrifice quality time with his wife, or not let him stay and have a romantic evening with his wife as he originally planned. In ââ¬Å"Mending Wall,â⬠the speaker has trouble fathoming why his neighbor desires to have some separation from him. It seems that for the most part, the neighbor would rather be more in touch with nature than other human beings. In ââ¬Å"Home Burial,â⬠a husband and wife develop a barrier created by the death of their child. The wife is upset about her husbandââ¬â¢s lack of emotion, which causes her to have thoughts in her head questioning the relationship she has with her husband. In the poem ââ¬Å"Love and a Question,â⬠there is conflict between man and man, as well as man and woman. According to Robert Frostââ¬â¢s wife, Elinor Frost, this poem describes ââ¬Å"the dilemma a newly-married young farmer faces one cold evening when a tramp comes to his door and asks for shelter: should the farmer spoil his honeymoon by letting a stranger into his... ...wife hopes he to be, since he is unable to give her love unconditionally. In ââ¬Å"Mending Wall,â⬠the speaker wants to befriend his neighbor and tries to do so, but his neighbor would prefer not to interact. In ââ¬Å"Home Burial,â⬠the husband is clearly not what the wife wants him to be since he will not show emotion in front of her. I think these three poems are a perfect example of Frostââ¬â¢s attempt to create conflict between people. I feel like he creates conflict in his narrative poetry to draw in the interest of the reader. All three of these poems hold a question: Which type of love will the stranger choose? Will the speaker and the neighbor really remain separate? Will the relationship between the husband and wife survive? Though Frost never gives a direct answer to these barriers, he fully grabs the attention of the reader, thus making them eager for an answer.

Managing Uncertainty
One of the most important abilities one needs to cultivate in the real world is managing uncertainty, if nothing else.à Corporations are no longer loyal to workers as they continue to outsource jobs to other parts of the world.à Cultivating a wide variety of skills is important in order to move on from this kind of blow.à My father used to work in manufacturing during the seventies and eighties.à At the beginning of the nineties, he lost his job because the company was relocating production to Mexico.à Since he did not know how to do anything else, he bounced from one low-paying job to the next. Maybe had he taken up computer programming, he might have come closer to his retirement goals, but alas, his job might have been outsourced in the early twenty first century as well.à Some say that a college degree is the ideal way to maintain job security.à There is a grain of truth in that as most companies are looking for educated professionalsâ⬠¦unfortunately, more white-collar mid-level positions are being outsourced as well, and our college-educated companion is out of a job too.à The closest thing to security one can achieve is becoming educated in a field with high market demand, and not enough personnel to fill all positions. Personal relationships are another category where uncertainty is more the rule than the exception.à Most marriages end in divorce, no one knows how their kids are going to turn out in the end, and sometimes friends will stab you in the back.à The easiest way to minimize uncertainty in this realm is to cultivate a large support system of friends and family members. Confining oneself to a marital relationship or association with oneââ¬â¢s immediate family will bring nothing but self-destruction in the end should those relationships flounder.à Humans by nature are social creatures, and must form many ties in order to feel secure.à Of course, there are exceptions to this, and I conclude that they are either very introverted or extremely well adjusted.à In this swiftly changing society, one is always out of alignment because of the quickly shifting cultural tides. As a nation, the United States is at a very precarious point in its lifetime.à It is embroiled in a series of foreign wars, which deplete the national treasury.à In five years, the first of the Baby Boomer generation will retire and there will be no money to support them all.à Personal investment plans such as IRAs, 401ks, and mutual funds are key to provide our generation with security in old age.à Gone is the age of depending on the government for necessities.à In some ways, it is a good thing because Americans have lost the self-sufficiency that is part of our illustrious legacy. Starting a meditation practice or exploring philosophical systems that highlight the impermanence of material goods, relationships, and life itself should help the individual come to terms with the unpredictable elements that will always show upââ¬âboth the good and bad.à The only certainties in life are death and taxes, all other categories must provide for contingencies.l My Future Concerning my future, I have never really thought about it beyond finishing my studies.à However, since I am at the point where I need to seriously consider future options, I shall outline it here.à Now, I think that I would enjoy going into the field of applied science or fiction writing.à Most likely I will end up doing both because breaking into the publishing racket is extremely difficult by most accounts, and I hear that the majority of fiction writers make less than $7,000 a year. In the real world, it is unlikely to find a rat-infested cardboard box for less than $500/ month.à Spaced over twelve months, I would only have $1,000 for a yearââ¬â¢s worth of groceries, utility bills, andà à Living with my parents for most of my adult life is not in the cards for me.à Not only would that hamper my independent inclinations, our temperaments mesh like oil and water.à One thing I must say in their favor, is that they would allow me to live with them if I were to ever fall on dire straits. If my writing is rejected or is subject to a tepid reception in the market place, I want to get into a field that will always have positions open.à If THAT doesnââ¬â¢t work out, then there is always real estate sales and investing.à Donald Trump et al have made a fortune in real estate investing and my research has shown that is the tried and true method of obtaining financial security.à Incidentally, financial security is an important part of my future.à I want to be in a position to emigrate if the unemployment rate deteriorates or the government embraces fascism.à Should that happen, I think I will move to New Zealand.à From what I have seen of it in the movies, it is a beautiful gem in the South Pacific, and if I donââ¬â¢t like it there, it is a hop, skip and a jump away from Tahiti. Maybe I will get married.à Find a nice young man to settle down with and have 2.1 children complete with white picket-fence and dog.à That sounds like something that I would consider doing in my late thirties, after I am through traveling, investing in my career, and having fun.à Getting tied down at a young age is quite ridiculous considering the divorce rate. Modern technology has made it so much easier for older women to give birth that a first-born child at forty is not out of the question for me.à Since I eat healthily and practice yoga, running after little ones will not be a problem ââ¬Å"at that age.â⬠à à I have begun writing down yearly, weekly, and monthly goals in order to bring my dreams into reality. Living With Purpose One of the many buzzwords floating around popular culture today is the idea that we need to live with a sense of purpose to our actions.à There are many websites devoted to this cause.à Blogs such as stevepavlina.com, and web sites featuring the ever-ubiquitous Law of Attraction, discuss the need for finding a passion and getting paid for it. Unfortunately, for the vast majority of people, that is clearly not the case.à Most complain about their jobs, their spouses, and their circumstances ad infinitum without doing anything about it.à Perhaps this obsession with purpose is the product of a society going through a mid-life crisis.à Think about it, when a person hits their forties, they usually start reflecting on the past and how their lives were devoted to a meaningless quest for materialism.à Nevertheless, I am not completely cynical about the life purpose. People with purpose usually have clear goals directed to the end of fulfilling their purpose.à These people are not corrupted by indecision, social pressures or conflicting goals; nor do they lose motivation.à There is much to be said for finding and living on purpose, and many writers have made a fortune off of promising to help the masses find this purpose. Choosing a career, finding a mate, and pursuing certain hobbies are part of a grand missionââ¬âi.e. something that one was born to do.à First, I must admit that I am extremely jealous of people that seem to have their whole lives figured out.à I, on the other hand, have a hodgepodge of ideas that I would like to experiment with.à Perhaps it is something that evolves organically over time.à Now I know that I have to pick one path and run with it until its logical conclusion or switch gears because I still am unsure about my lifeââ¬â¢s direction. For as long as I can remember, I wanted to help others but no specific method jumped out at me.à I would volunteer at the convalescent home to read stories to senior citizens, tutor children in the projects, and pick up trash in protected areas.à None of these tasks called to me as a lifeââ¬â¢s work.à Perhaps that is why I am in school now rather than writing the next great epic, or rubbing elbows with rich and the powerful.à Perhaps I can use one of my chosen career paths to become personally successful so that eventually, I would be in a position to help others through philanthropy. Difference Between Last Era and This One The twentieth century was a time when rogue governments took hold of their nationââ¬â¢s destiny and driven them.à No matter what one can sya, the last century gave rise to a multitude of changes.à First, electricity became widespread in the industrial world, secondly transcontinental transportation became more efficient as cars, airplanes and trains replaced the horse and buggy.à Einsteinââ¬â¢s theory of relativity supplanted the old Newtonian model and many scientists of the twenty-first century are seeking to unite quantum theory with relativity without much success thus far.à It was in the last century that organ transplants became common, and the explorations of outer space began. Today, it appears that people are less interested in furthering our exploration of the solar system and the galaxy because there have been no significant manned space missions in more than thirty years.à à In sum, we are no different now than we were back then.à Actually, it appears that the world as a whole has regressed into the religious fanaticism of the dark ages.à Fortunately, we have progressed in temrs of race relations domestically, even as we regressed internationally. à Ã

American Superconductor Case
American Superconductor offer electric power infra structure from its generation to distribution. AMSC is the leader in alternate energy. The company has two main business units: AMSC power systems and AMSC Superconductors. AMSC Superconductors American Superconductor has spent nearly 18 years as public limited company developing transmission wires of high quality in order to generate and deliver power. The Company has been posting continuous losses and mostly dwindling on cash.It has however posted recently its first ever profit for the quarter ended 31st March 2009 by earning a profit of $1. 3 million or 3 cents per share. (MSN Money) Debt Verses Equity Financing Equity and debt financing both have their advantages and disadvantages explaining why most big companies select an optimal capital structure which is a mix of debt and equity. Theoretically having a higher ratio of debt in the capital structure maximizes the return on equity. The interest payments on debt are tax deductibl e and usually the cost of debt is much lower than the cost of equity. With debt financing a company pays a fixed interest payment irrespective of the amount of profit or growth it has achieved i. e. it does not have to share its profits with its creditors. For a profitable company requiring extra capital, ââ¬Å"debt financingâ⬠is the best option because with debt financing it does not have to share its profits or the ownership of the business with others. Equity injection however results in further dilution of earnings and management control. With the above argument one may feel that debt financing is the best option.Debt financing is a good option as long as the company has huge profits and liquid assets to support it. For a business that is facing losses, debt payments can be a huge burden in the form of interest payments. The creditors will have to be paid while the stockholders on the other hand will not get any dividends since the company is only making a loss. We can the refore say that equity financing puts less of a burden on a companyââ¬â¢s financials when profitability is depleting or business is posting a loss.Higher equity percentage in the capital structure impacts the financial ratios of the company positively. Restructuring to 100% Equity It all started after the 2003 black out which occurred due to the over load of power grids and American Superconductors stocks surged by nearly 42% as an expectation that the quality wires manufactured by American Superconductors could be used to relieve congestion on the power grids. The company took this situation as an opportunity and the managers and board of directors decided to forgo debt financing of $50 million and adopt an equity financing strategy. The company raised $51. 1 million by selling shares which helped strengthen the balance sheet and enhanced the liquidity condition of the company. American Superconductors however continued making losses, but conversion of capital structure to 100% e quity allowed the company to reduce its interest expense significantly. Since higher leverages magnifies return on equity of a profitable business but also maximizes the loss by putting additional pressure on the profit and loss account of a company.AMSC after converting to 100% equity capital structure saved millions of dollars every year in terms of interest expense. Recently AMSC has posted its first profit since the capital restructuring in 2003. If AMSC had not converted to equity financing it would have had a major problem financing its cash needs and credit worthiness would have gotten worse. The Debt to Equity ratio would have increased and debt would have gotten more and more expensive for the company thus increasing the interest expense of the company and it may have never became profitable.Long term debt continues to be zero whereas the number of outstanding shares can be seen increasing from 19. 7 million shares to 41. 5 million shares. Conclusion American Superconductor being a technology company had to face many challenges such as failed projects, higher cost of business and ever changing environment. Board of Directors in my opinion took a very good decision by not using long term debt in their capital structure. AMSC has been a subject of criticism but it has finally posted a profit and if it stays profitable they might want to rethink their optimal capital structure.

Certain events in The Usual Suspects are presented a number essays
Certain events in The Usual Suspects are presented a number essays In Bryan Singers The Usual Suspects we are presented with a number of different situations where character opinion and manipulation alters the view we get of a scene. A prime example of this is the contradictory manifestations that arise from the character of Keyser Soze, whose true identity is shown in various ways from different characters points of view. The boat scene is also an integral part of the mystery where the events that occur are presented slightly differently in relation to the character that is telling them. It is this multiple focalization that has created the question as to whether the film has an open or closed ending and because of the differing presentations from Verbal Kint (Kevin Spacey) the ending can be argued in favour of each case. Without Verbals overall presentation of events the mystery to the story would be lost and it is this stylistic presentation that allows him to manipulate the audience and Agent Kujan (Chazz Palminteri), which in turn emphasises the intelligence and power that he possesses. The opening visual dynamics immediately presents us with a scene that will be replayed a number of times and the contrasting mia scoro in the boat scene symbolises the struggle for life against quickly imposed death. The first interpretation of events on the boat presents us with what really happens though the true identity of Keyser Soze is not revealed at this stage, which in turn creates the main premise for the narrative to develop from. The presentation of the scene is affective in its simplicity; we are not presented with any kind of build up to the situation on the boat, neither do we know who Dean Keaton (Gabriel Byrne) is or why he is on the floor and we are not aware of who Keyser Soze is and the power that he possesses. It is from this that the scene appears to convey what genuinely happened with the stylistic presentation leaving matters around the scene unresol...

buy custom Case Report on National Australia Bank (NAB) essay
buy custom Case Report on National Australia Bank (NAB) essay Introduction Analyzing case study Australian Banks in Asia, it is necessary to say that Australian business begins to integrate into Chinese market. National Australia Bank (NAB) is one of the most active players in the Chinese market. However, the main challenge of NAB is management issue that is connected with cultural differences between Australian and Chinese markets. Cultural differences between markets concern many banks at the present time; therefore, it is important to regard this management issue. Management issue is a problem that prevents the company from the development and growth in the market. Management issues can be connected with strategic renewal, structure, governance, communication, culture, and leadership, especially when it concerns international market. Cultural differences between markets should be studied due to globalization of business and its integration into international market. This report will reveal peculiarities of NAB operating in the Chinese markets and recommend the ways of solving the management issues concerning cultural differences. The report aims to prove that the cultural difference is the main barrier that prevents NAB from successful integration into Chinese market. The main purpose of this report is to identify management issue and evaluate development and strategies of NAB in the Chinese banking market. Issue Identification For NAB, the Chinese market appears to be challenging since there are numerous regulatory limitations as well as cultural differences in many areas. The Chinese market has tough conditions for all kinds of business and thus, even such successful Australian bank as NAB requires additional investment to employ Chinese human resources and attract Chinese customers. Understanding cultural differences is a must for global business. Indeed, NAB runs business in other nations such as China, Britain, or the USA as it is a wonderful opportunity to get large profits and win the respective market (Staniuline, 2009). From the case study, it is evident that cultural implications have an impact on reception and longevity of a new brand regardless of bank's services, experience, and size. Anothe management issue is that NAB cannot operate in Chinese market of other domestic banks and impose its values. It means that NAB should save its cultural identity and be respectful to Chinese traditions of business. International business practices require knowledge of cultural differences to avoid misunderstanding and conflicts. Besides, it is important for NAB to be tolerant of Chinese management styles to gain new opportunities and agreement (Raspin, 2007). Critical Discussion The case study shows that cultural differences can be both driving and restraining force while operating in the global business community such as China. However, it has been argued that the management issues of NAB are connected with differences between Australian and Chinese values. Hofstede's theory of organizational culture is applicable in this particular case and it helps to show the differences between Australian and Chinese markets. The argument centered on whether Hofstede's theory of organizational culture may solve the problem of cultural differences between Chinese and Australian markets (Alvesson, 2002). Power distance concerns social inequality including the issues of race and gender. In countries with high power distance, subordinates have high dependency to superiors and don't disagree with superiors directly (Khastar, 2011, 321). In Australia, power distance is not so evident and thus, social inequalities and discrimination are not typical for NAB. The huge Chinese market is attractive, but its culture is a major issue for NAB. China has high power distance. Uncertainty avoidance is another factor that defines organizational culture. It develops good corporate strategy and strategic leadership (Brooks, 1997). Uncertainty avoidance index (UAI) is high in both China and Australia. In cultures with high UAI, people try to be structured, and behave what they are expected and want to know that will happen in the future (Khastar, 2011, 321). This cultural aspect proves that NAB has all opportunities of being successful in Chinese market. Another cultural difference between Chinese and Australian banking markets concerns individualism and collectivism. IIndividualism versus collectivism is regarded with the degree of people feeling belonged to a group and the identity of relations between group and people (Khastar, 2011, 321). Chinese culture is collective, while Australian culture is individual. It is a crucial gap between them. Masculinity versus femininity is another cultural barrier for Australian bank in Chinese market. In Australian society, both women and men share the same set of values and have equal rights. On the other hand, China is a masculine society, where men have more rights than women, and the latter are treated with injustice. NAB can provide equal rights for men and women, and this will help to improve customers responsiveness. The strength of NAB is that it is not afraid of cultural differences with China and it does not look for easy ways such as European and American banking markets. Hofstede's theory of organizational culture is not always ideal and relevant. It does not presuppose the variety of human societies. It is necessary to take into consideration that within a Chinese society, there can be other cultural groups that also have their peculiarities. The limitation of Hofstede's theory of organizational culture is that it does not consider different cross-cultural behavioral patterns. It is evident that this theory does not help to solve the main management issue of NAB. In China, NAB has the problems employing local managers in order to double the amount of branches (Rasmussen and Wangel, 2006). On the contrary, it is evident that Hofstede's theory of organizational culture is still relevant because cultural issues remain unsolved. Moreover, globalization of domestic organization is a must for its transfer on the international level, and Hofstede's theory shows the obstacles that it should remove in order to operate in the international environment (Raspin, 2003). Moreover, it has been determined that in modern international market, banks are ready to implement cultural management to avoid disagreement and conflicts with their customers. It is argued that Hofstede's theory of organizational culture is still applicable in current business world because globalization and internationalization are the two driving forces that destroy boundaries between cultures (Schermerhorn, 2013). How to Build a Modern PR Plan That Works With Marketing (Template)
How to Build a Modern PR Plan That Works With Marketing (Template) If youre at all like me, then one of your most recent experiences working on a standard press release might be that media relations class you took in college. Think about it. When was the last time your team sent a press release to a reporter, received some valuable coverage, and saw your site traffic boom? Or, on the other hand, when was the last time a cold email landed in your inbox that truly excited you about the possibilities within that strangers pitch? Public relations has undergone some major transitions. In fact, you could go so far as to say that todays PR doesnt look much at all like the PR of yesterday. Media and communications has always been an industry that moves quickly, and advances in technology and social media have escalated those moves. Add to that audiences increased expectations of trust, authenticity, and the rise of practices like content marketing, and its clear PR really had no choice but to evolve or become largely obsolete. Now, if you havent already, take a moment to lament all the hours you spent in your PR classes, drafting press releases and debating whether majoring in communications was a good idea. It's still press your company earnsà in a third-party outlet, and it still helps you establish credibility, boost brand awareness, and extend your brand positioning. The biggest difference is in its execution. Modern PR is much less transactional and more relational than ever before. In the past, marketing and PR teams could trade templated press releases to reporters in hopes of some self-promotional writeup published by whoever would pick up the story. The new PRà is focused on your relationships with journalists, influencers, editors, and contributors at online publications and with the audiences you share with them. Trust is key, and it's earned by delivering valuable content to media contacts who can use it to provide value to their readers - the audience you're ultimately trying to reach. Audiences want engaging content from outlets they trust. When you pitch media contacts at those outlets truly valuable content and sources they can use to publish that engaging content (rather than stuffy, self-promotional releases), everyone wins. If some of this talk of "value" and "audience engagement" is ringing a bell to you, it's probably because content marketing focuses a lot on these things, too. Modern PR and content marketing are not one in the same, but content marketing has proven too effective for PR to ignore. That's why it's evolved beyond overt self-promotion en masse to offer more value - to audiences, media contacts, and the brands using modern PR alike. Below are seven essential steps to building and implementing a modern PR strategy for your company: Table of Contents: Building a PR Plan in 7 Steps Lay Out Your Brand Positioning Goals Identify the Outlets That Reach Your Audience Create Strategic, High-Quality Content Carefully Craft Your Pitches Develop (And Use) a Distribution Plan Keep Your Network Organized Don't Neglect Your Content Marketing1. Lay Out Your Brand Positioning Goals Most people understand PR as a tool to really supercharge buzz around a one-time event or product launch. It's something that can quickly get a lot of people excited for a short time before fizzling out after that event or launch concluded. It is absolutely still a good tool for that - but how many events, launches, or other truly newsworthy events do you expect to happen in a year's time? Your company is doing important work for clients every day. How are your PR efforts elevating that work and, therefore, your brand overall? PR can also be used to help generate and sustain brand awareness, interest, and credibility that don't have an expiration date. PR can help generate brand awareness, interest, and credibility that don't have an expiration dateTo do this, start considering the bigger picture of how you want your audience to see your brand. How do you want your brand to be seen? What do you want to be known as an expert in? What feelings do you want your brand to inspire in your audience? Look beyond short-term goals for event registrants or demo sign-ups, and think about how you want to position yourself in front of your target audience. When you know how you want to be seen, you can better identify the outlets, writers, and editors that can help reinforce that brand image. Action Item: Develop an effective branding strategy and understand where you fit in the marketplace. Start with this detailed guide from Jordan Loftis. 2. Identify the Outlets That Reach Your Audience Your audience is looking for content that's informative, engaging, and published on sites it trusts - like reputable online publications in their industry. Historically, publications were managed by journalists and traditional reporters and staff writers. But audience demand for that informative, engaging content has risen, and those outlets have grown their networks to include content from other sources, too, like industry leaders, experts, and individual contributors. To position your brand in front of the right audience, identify where they're getting their content. Which industry influencers, thought leaders, journalists, and editors do they trust? What outlets do they love? Start compiling a list of potential publications and contacts to pitch that align with your brand positioning goals and reach your audience. Action Item: Use Buzzsumo to identify influential media outlets and journalists. 3. Create Strategic, High-Quality Content Now, if you're not sending out press releases to those contacts you've listed, what exactly are you pitching? Content. This content is part of your PR efforts, so you might think it has to be really self-promotional to make the impact you're looking for. But that's not what modern PR is about. It's about value to your audience and your media contacts - which translates into value for your brand. When our team surveyed publication editors about the biggest problems they have with the content they're pitched, 79 percentà said content is too promotional and 56 percent said it isn't a fit for their readership. So, as you're creating content to pitch editors and other contacts, ask yourself: Does this content align with my companyââ¬â¢s goals? Does it add value to readers? Does it align with the tone, topics, and opinions expressed in the publication I'm pitching? A good way to test whether the content you've created is as beneficial to your contact and your audience as it is to your PR goals is to remove your company completely from the content. If a quote or link or mention you've included about yourself can be removed without really affecting the piece, then it probably doesn't add much value. If the piece loses value when you do this, then you know that whatever you've included about your company enhances the quality of the content, which is good news for everyone involved. It's important here to note that not every media contact is going to want to receive a pitch with a full article attached. The content you're creating here can be a full article for the publication of one of the contacts you're reaching out to. It can also be the outline of an article, or it can be a summary and key points. Regardless of the content formatting your contact prefers to receive, remember to avoid overt self-promotion, and keep it relevant to the outlet's tone and topics. Action Item: Develop a full understanding of how guest blogging works with this excellent interview with Jeff Ostroff of Don't Panic Management. Then, follow this guide on developing high-quality content. 4. Carefully Craft Your Pitches Your pitches should be created with as much care as the actual content you create - because if your pitches get deleted, your content goes with it. Take the time to research your points of contact, customize your emails to demonstrate your message is worth reading, and remember the following points as you pitch your media contacts: Get Specific These people likely receive plenty of pitches - why does it make sense for them to accept yours? To make your case, include a few key points from your content, in addition to an overall angle, article summary, and title suggestions. You should also provide an explanation of your company and any subject matter experts and sources included in your content. This helps your contact understand who you are, why you're a valuable, trustworthy source, and why your inclusion in this content is an important addition that can enhance audience engagement. Respect Their Schedules and Expectations Your contacts aren't just watching their inboxes, waiting for a pitch from you. They are incredibly busy. They're creating their own content, collaborating with other writers and brands, and they're working on tight deadlines. Their time is valuable, and when you're asking them to fork over even a little bit of it, you must respect it by proving to them you care about more than just what's in it for you. Lay the Groundwork for a Relationship Modern PR isn't about quick, one-time wins; it's more relational than transactional. Be friendly, personable, and patient in your communication, and offer to revise or refine any content if needed. A good relationship benefits you both (and the audiences you share), and it's up to you to lay that foundation in your outreach. Action Item: Follow this guide and template to make every pitch perfect. 5. Develop (and Use) a Distribution Plan Let's say your pitch goes well. This journalist or editor or influencer loves your idea and decides to use you as a source in an article he or she publishes. This is typically the exciting part, but it doesn't mean your work is done. You can't rely on these contacts to distribute this content for you. You have to do your part in maximizing press and getting this content to as many people as possible. Thankfully, there are so many ways to distribute content. Consider: sending an email to your team with a request for them to share it on social media. sharing this content on your company's social media accounts. encouraging your sales team to send it to leads and in other outreach. putting some paid promotion behind it. adding it to your email signature. including an "As Seen On" badge on your site. including it in your newsletters or drip campaigns. These are just someà suggestions. You know your audience best, so use every avenue you have to deliver this content to them. The important thing is that you don't just sit on any content or press once it goes live. Sharing it with your audience helps you, as well as the contact who helped secure it. Action Item: Two places to start sharing your content include social media and your email list. 6. Keep Your Network Organized This approach to modern PR isn't a one-and-done tactic. Obviously, pitching the same content to the same contacts isn't the idea here, but maintaining your relationships is critical. You don't want to work with a contact of yours to place content and then ghost them as soon as you've gotten your press. When you're implementing this plan, you'll want to organize and manage your own network. I recommend starting small with a simple spreadsheet that you and other members of your marketing and PR teams can contribute to. This gives you a centralized place to store information about your media contacts, including: Names Email addresses Twitter handles Publication names Tone Topic And other content guidelines, and pitch preferences. This will help you easily identify who you should reach out to with different kinds of content, which is key to maintaining good relationships. It can also serve as a place to record your outreach and keep your relationship status updated, so you know how often you're connecting with various people in your network and if any contact information changes. Once you have a way of seeing what everyone's wants, needs, and goals are, it's much easier to meet them - or to make strategic introductions to other sources you know could potentially help out these journalists and editors. Bottom line:à If you want to secure mentions of your brand and deliver quality content to your audience, then you need to build and manage of a robust network of contacts. A spreadsheet is as good a place to start as any. Action Item: You can find a free Google Sheets template to create your spreadsheet here. 7. Don't Neglect Your Content Marketing Remember previously when I addressed how similar some aspects of this modern PR are to content marketing? Well, modern PR and content marketing may share some ideas, but that doesn't mean either can act as a substitute for the other. The honest truth is that an effective PR plan today is one that works alongside a robust content marketing strategy. Public relations and content marketingà work so well together because they fuel one another. Your content marketing can generate press coverage, which can fuel your content marketing, which can ... you see where this goes. Your content can be your foot in the door to PR opportunities. It helps you build your brand as a leader in your space, which can help you grab the attention and interest of journalists, influencers, and other members of the press. Your content can be your foot in the door to PR opportunities.Think about it: Would a journalist or influencer be more willing to accept a pitch from someone who's been consistently creating content in their industry and building their brand, or someone who's never created any content? Plus, surrounding your brand with expert content can even lead to press opportunities you don't pitch yourself - ones that emerge organically, that come as a result of your industry expertise. And on the other side of the spectrum PR can amplify your on-site content because it directs more people to it. More people in your audience who see your company mentioned in the press can find their way to your site where they can explore even more content and continue engaging with your brand. These two work too well together to skimp on either. Maximize your modern PR strategy by continuing to invest in your content marketing. Action Item: Read these resources to do better content marketing: How to Build a Content Marketing Strategy You'll Actually Use (Free Template) The Best Way to Get Organized With a Content Marketing Editorial Calendar (Free Template) How to Choose the Best Content Marketing Platform Ready to Master Modern PR? You may not have learned about this evolution of public relations in college, but I'd say if you've made it all the way through this post, you've kind of taken a master class in modern PR. Your PR practices don't have to continue down an outdated and old-fashioned path that shortchanges your brand, your media contacts, and your audience members. It's time to get on board with modern PR, and these steps will help ensure it's an easy transition.

Hence this aspect facilitates the people through more open sharing of information. We can classify this marketing term when we make use of it inà Blogs, wikis, andà Web servicesà are the entirely seen as part of Web 2.0 (Webopedia, 2011). Web 2.0 Tools and Technologies When we talk about web 2.0 technological aspects, we see a lot of Web 2.0 tools and technologies available in the market. In this scenario various online tools and platforms are available that help us a lot in defining how citizens can share their point of views, ideas, opinions, thoughts, data and information and knowledge. In this scenario, we have various examples of Web 2.0 tools such as weblogs, RSS, video-casting, collective bookmarking, podcasts; multimedia sharing sites and social networking. These tools are helpful for the organizations for attracting more and more people and services. But the most important aspect is that majority of Web 2.0 tools are free of cost and we can use them online. There are numerous Web 2.0 tools such as Blogger, Digg, Word press, Metacafe, Furl, Twitter and YouTube (Scott, 2011). Podcasting If someone wants to play video games, he/she can easily explore a podcast submission Web-site such as www.Podcast.net. Social Bookmarking The aspect of social bookmarking facilitates people to visualize and comment on the blog post. Viral Marketing Definition Viral marketing is aà term that is commonly used to discuss marketing strategy factors. How to Deal with Abusive Supervisors Research Paper
How to Deal with Abusive Supervisors - Research Paper Example An image of the tyrannical boss is evoked whenever the notion of abusive supervisors is discussed. This boss usually undermines those working under him or reporting to him and publicly ridicules his workers. In most of the studies, abusive supervision means the perception of workers about their supervisor of the extent to which they engage in nonverbal behaviors, verbal abuse and sustained display of hostile actions excluding any physical contact. The extent of abusive supervision is mostly dependent upon the perception of the subordinates. Different subordinates working under the same boss might feel differently about his behavior, some might perceive it as abusive and some might not. The behavior might also be labeled as abusive in different contexts by different workers (Tepper, Consequences of abusive supervision 2000). This behavior can result in the employee enduring the abuse or terminating the relationship or try to modify his supervisorââ¬â¢s behavior. The person being abused may remain in the relationship because he might feel powerless to take any corrective action, or he is dependent financially on the abuser or fears the results of terminating the relationship than the results of abuse. The abusive behavior may also be endured because the supervisor interchanges abusive behavior with normal behavior. Bies have identified manifestations of abusive supervision as loud and angry shouting, public criticism, rudeness, and inconsiderate actions. Not many studies have investigated the effects of abusive supervision on the behavior of employees and the performance of the company. Ashforth found out that abusive supervision resulted in helplessness, frustration, and alienation from work. It was also found by Keashly and his fellows that physical violence like punching, throwing things and threatening with a weapon occurred very rarely in comparison to nonphysical abuse.

Hackers are the true defenders of cyberspace Essay
Hackers are the true defenders of cyberspace - Essay Example There is a great divergence in the understanding of the role of hackers in modern cyberspace. While they are often considered to be criminals, breaking into computer systems to cause damage and engage in personal gain; most hackers are out there for the exact opposite reasons, to help the cyber-environment, and to do something they love. According to Wikipedia, "hacker is extended to mean a person who makes things work beyond perceived limits through their own technical skill." Hackers, then, strive to improve the internet for all users, and not damage or deface what currently exists. Hackers, not crackers (people whose primary goal is financial gain), are the true defenders of cyberspace, in that they work to uncover security flaws, attempt to regulate dangerous or immoral content, promote new technology and ideas, and strive to stop crackers from damaging critical cyber technology. By describing and proving each of the above concepts related to hackers and the defense of cyberspace , this essay seeks to prove that crackers, not hackers, are the primary threat to cyberspace; and that hackers, through their actions and love of technology, strive to and are successful at being the true defenders of cyberspace. All over the world, groups of hackers are gainfully employed as cyber cops, internet security, and virus stoppers. Everyday they find "cures" to hundreds of bugs, Trojan horses, and viruses that crackers and hackers have loosed on the cyber world. At the anti-virus firm Kaspersky, in Moscow, "woodpeckers" (young hackers) work in twelve hour shifts to protect the internet. In the media, they are called computer programmers. However, their job is to correct code, and to travel into crackers' computers to hunt out the source of these security breaches (Johnson 2006). Internet security requires hackers to learn not only how to fix the problems crackers cause, but also how to think like them, to understand not only the how but also the why of what the crackers do . The line between hacker (with a positive connotation) and hacker (with a negative connotation) is actually finite. They break into other people's computers, investigate personal files, and change the internet in thousands of ways. However, hackers only do it out of love for cyberspace, and a need to protect others, and strengthen the security of other people's systems. Crackers, (the group commonly called hackers in mainstream media) do the same; only they do it not just out of love, but also out of a desire for personal gain. For hackers, the need to learn to think like crackers is paramount. They are taught in classrooms how to think and behave like crackers, using the same tools to find a system's weakest points (School 2005). Yet few people would argue that these people are doing damage; instead, they are trying to strengthen security, and are called computer programmers by mainstream media. They use the same tools, and do the same actions. The only difference is the eventual goal: for hackers, to improve the internet, for crackers, to improve their wallet. Crackers not only go after financial gain for themselves, they also try to hurt others, a new wave called "cyber terrorism." Cyber terrorism is defined as "cyber terrorism is the premeditated, politically motivated attack against information, computer systems, computer programs, and data which result in violence against noncombatant targets by sub national groups or clandestine agents" (Federal Bureau of Investigations 2006). Crackers gain entrance into military and government sites, causing damage and defacing the sites. Cyber terrorism is considered one of the greatest new threats, and laws are popping up everywhere requiring jail time for these offenders. Yet their greatest skill is that of not being findable, at least not by laypersons. Instead, computer programmers are becoming cyber cops, searching out these criminals, and stopping dangerous attacks on data. These "cracks" into government security can only be

Exam question Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Exam question - Essay Example Furthermore, overseas empires were created for the sake of prestige since during this period; most of the main European powers rivaled one another on the continent. The main European powers, such as Britain, France, Spain and the Netherlands, as a result of their rivalry on the European continent, sought to show their superiority overseas and this is the reason why such nations as Spain developed huge empires in the Americas and in Asia. Anti-Semitism had a long history in Europe and it had developed over the centuries to become one of the bases upon which most of the views concerning Jews in European society were made. The Dreyfus Affair was one of the most blatant shows of anti-Semitism to be displayed in nineteenth century Europe and this is mainly because of the fact that most of the accusations made against Dreyfus were false. The Dreyfus Affair was mainly driven by the feelings of humiliation that France still felt over the loss of Alsace and Lorraine to Germany in 1871 and it is for this reason that Alfred Dreyfus, a Jewish officer in the French Army, came to serve as a useful scapegoat. One of the main reasons for the development of the accusations of treason against him was because he was a Jew from Alsace and his Jewishness alone made him a culprit in the eyes of the law and the state. The belief that Jews were a treacherous people made it people for a significant part of the French public to believe the a ccusations against him. Many European nations can be blamed for the occurrence of World War I and this is because of their tendency several years before the war to form alliances which were based on protecting one another from attacks from countries which were not members of their alliances. For instance, Britain, France, and Russia formed the Triple Entente and this was an alliance based on mutual protection so that if any of the countries named above was attacked, the other

Reforestation Is Usually To Regenerate Forests Environmental Sciences Essay
Reforestation Is Usually To Regenerate Forests Environmental Sciences Essay If looked at from a long term point of view, reforestation is economically beneficial. One of the most obvious benefits is the supply of lumber andà wood productsà in the world. Almost everyone uses wood in some way every day, andà sellingà lumber creates aà great dealà of income. Secondary economic benefits from reforestation include job creation in forest management and increased property taxes on reforested land. Trees, when they decompose, enrich and add nutrients to the soil. This increases soil fertility and helps cash crops grow, which is a huge benefit for nations that rely on their primary sector. Against If looked at from a short term view, reforestation is very expensive and would be hard to carry out in poorer nations, where there is hardly any money to fulfill basic needs, let alone extra money to waste on schemes like reforestation. There is less land available for agricultural growth and human activities. Environmental Factor For Trees provide a natural habitat for other life forms, as a home and a food source. By the process of photosynthesis, trees capture and store carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, helping to reduce quantities of this greenhouse gas and mitigating the effects of climate change. Moreover, by controlling the flow of surface water and reducing the runoff of soil, trees can also help mitigate the effects of extreme weather events. This reduces the occurrence of floods and mudslides, particularly in areas susceptible to disasters. Trees can also reduce the risk of droughts by retaining water in the local environment and cooling local temperatures by shading the soil. Against Planting more trees means there will be less land for human activities. Planting artificial trees may mean a drastic change of habitats for specific sets of animals and plants. It takes a very long time for the trees to grow and produce something useful. Positive Impacts Reforestation is the reestablishment or expansion of a forest which was previously destroyed or degraded. The primary goal of reforestation is usually to regenerate forests, with the aim of restoring the environmental and economic benefits they provide, but reforestation activities can also provide a wealth of social benefits as well. Woodland provides ecosystems for wildlife, resources for humans and even modifies the climate. Replanting trees can help reduce erosion and nutrient depletion, keeping areas where rainforests grow fertile and reducing the likelihood of floods. Reforestation projects may also ensure the conservation of habitats for animals and plants. Some types of fauna may be useful for food, to improve medical science or have other potential advantages for society across the globe. Benefits of reforestation projects for those living in deforested areas include increasing the availability of clean drinking water, food, fuel and construction materials, as well as offeri ng employment, according to Eden Reforestation Projects. à Negative Impacts- Reforestation projects can be expensive, and a lot of work, time and money would be needed if the world were to plant enough trees to successfully combat their depletion. Eden Reforestation Projects highlights figures from the World Bank released in 2002, which stated that 15 million hectares of woodland needs to be planted every year at a cost of 20 cents per tree or more after inflation. It is very time consuming. Planting trees and waiting for them to actually grow may take years together. Reforestation policies may be hard to implement in some areas of the world.à Reforestation as a Solution- Through photosynthesis, trees remove CO2 from the atmosphere, thus reforestation can play an important role in offsetting carbon emissions.à The United Nations IPCC estimates reforestation could remove the carbon equivalent to about 10 percent to 20 percent of projected fossil fuel emissions by 2050.à Reforestation is the restocking of existing forests and woodlands which have been depleted, with native tree stock. à The term reforestation is like afforestation, the process of restoring and recreating areas of woodlands or forest that once existed but were deforested or otherwise removed or destroyed at some point in the past. The resulting forest can provide both ecosystem and resource benefits and has the potential to become a major carbon sink. The concept of forests as carbon sinks has drawn attention around reforestation as a possible tool in the fight against global climate change. Because trees draw CO2 from the atmosphere in the process of photosynthesis, they can potentially remove this excess greenhouse gas from the atmosphere and help fight global warming. Problems The main effect is an increasing global average temperature. This causes a variety of secondary effects, namely, changes in patterns of precipitation, rising sea levels, altered patterns ofà agriculture, increasedà extreme weatherà events, the expansion of the range of tropical diseases, the opening of new trade routes. à As northern countries warm, disease carrying insects migrate north, bringing plague and disease with them. Indeed some scientists believe that in some countries, thanks to global warming, malaria had not been fully eradicated. Global warming is already strengthening heat waves. Nearly every part of the Causes Carbon overload is a result of human activities. When humans burn fossil fuels, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere, where it traps heat. One of the first things scientists learned is that there are several greenhouse gases responsible for warming, and humans emit them in a variety of ways. Most come from the combustion of fossil fuels in factories and electricity production. The gas responsible for the most warming is carbon dioxide (CO2). Other contributors include methane released from landfills and agriculture, nitrous oxide from fertilizers, gases used for industrial processes, and the loss of forests that would otherwise store CO2.à Theà atmosphericà concentrations of these à greenhouse gasesà have significantly increased since the beginning of the industrial revolution. This is mainly due to human activities, such as the burning ofà fossil fuels,à land useà change, and agriculture. For instance, the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide has been growing faster in the last ten years than it has been since the beginning of continuous measurements around 1960. United States will have significantly more of 100o late this century. The water will become warmer and there will be more hurricanes. The polar icecaps are melting at a high rate. The rising sea levels will cause more floods. The trees will dry up and cause wildfires. Desertification will take place. There will be increased volcanic activity. Species of exotic animals will get wiped out. All our food and water supplies will be diminished. Ã

Cnidaria Essay -- essays research papers
Cnidaria is a large phylum composed of some of the most beautiful of all the salt and freshwater organisms: the true jellyfish, box jellyfish, coral and sea anemones, and hydra. Although Cnidaria is an incredibly diverse group of animals, there are several traits that link them together. Most cnidarians are dipoblastic, which means that they are composed of only two layers of cells. The outer layer is known as the ectoderm or epidermis, and the inner layer is known as the endoderm or gastrodermis. These layers contain the nerve nets that control the muscular and sensory functions of the animal. Between these layers is a jelly-like noncellular substance known as mesoglea, which in true jellyfish constitute the vast bulk of the animal (hence their common name). In other species, the mesoglea may be nearly absent. All cnidarians have a single opening into the body which acts as both the mouth and anus, taking in food and expelling waste. In most species the mouth is lined with tentacles which act to capture food. The mouth leads to a body cavity known as the coelenteron, where the food is digested. This body cavity has given this phylum its other, less commonly used, name of Coelenterata. Cnidarians have a complex life cycle that, depending on the species, may alternate between two forms. The first form is known as a polyp, which is sessile (anchored to one spot). The polyps are tubular in shape, with the mouth, often lined with tentacles, facing upwards. The bodies often con...

Girl Child Essay
The International Day of the Girl Child initiative began as a project of Plan International, a non-governmental organization that operates worldwide. The idea for an international day of observance and celebration grew out of Plan Internationalââ¬â¢s Because I Am a Girl campaign, which raises awareness of the importance of nurturing girls globally and in developing countries in particular. Plan International representatives in Canada approached the Canadian federal government to seek support for the initiative.[1] A coalition of supporters raised awareness of the initiative internationally. International Day of the Girl Child was formally proposed as a resolution by Canada in the United Nations General Assembly. Rona Ambrose, Canadaââ¬â¢s Minister for the Status of Women, sponsored the resolution; a delegation of women and girls made presentations in support of the initiative at the 55th United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. On December 19, 2011, the United Nations General Assembly voted to pass a resolution adopting October 11, 2012 as the inaugural International Day of the Girl Child.[2] The resolution states that the Day of the Girl recognizes The empowerment of and investment in girls, which are critical for economic growth, the achievement of all Millennium Development Goals, including the eradication of poverty and extreme poverty, as well as the meaningful participation of girls in decisions that affect them, are key in breaking the cycle of discrimination and violence and in promoting and protecting the full and effective enjoyment of their human rights, and recognizing also that empowering girls requires their active participation in decision-making processes and the active support and engagement of their parents, legal guardians, families and care providers, as well as boys and men and the wider community

Dream: Electrical Engineering and Hard Work
Some people may say that dreams are hard to follow and it's impossible to be able to achieve them. But, that's actually not true. The fact is that dreams are the most amazing things in life; we all love to dream, love to hope and love to see our dreams come true. Our dreams are in our hands. We are the ones who control them; we are the ones who can make them either come true or not. In the article ââ¬Å"A Vision of Stars, Grounded in the Dust of Rural Indian,â⬠Somini Sengupta talks about Anupam Kumar, an Indian boy who lives and grows up in a poor family but has a big dream. He wants to works at NASA. In the article, the author describes the road to fulfill his dream as well as the difficulties he met such as poverty, difficulty gaining acceptance to go to college, the intensity of competition, and his failure on the first exam. However, Anupam never gives up on his dream and finally achieves his dream with his own determination and hard work as well as support from his parents and his teacher. Like Anupam, I also have my own dreams. My dream is to become a computer engineer because I love technology and I believe that in the future, computers will become indispensable to human life. I will definitely reach my dream because of the support from my mother, my determination and my passion for computers. I will reach my goal thanks to the support from my mother. When I was a child, I was introverted. I hardly left the house and often spent my time in boredom, I did not have a goal and I also did not know what kind of person I would be in the future. Despite all of this, my mother is a person who changed me and helped me determine a goal of my life. My mother is the first person who realized my passion for computers. Whenever we went to my uncleââ¬â¢s house, I always asked him to teach me how to use his computer. At the time, I did not realize that I loved to study computers so much. I thought it was just because of my curiosity, but my mother did not. She saw through my heart and she knew what I needed. Living in Vietnam, computers were outrageously expensive, but my mother worked very hard in other to give me a chance to a new world of technology. Since I have my own computer which I got as a result of a lot of sweat and hard work by of my mother, I feel like a fish returned to the ocean. I became a new person. I studied hard and got good grades and my life became more interesting because I have more friends not only in Vietnam but also all over the world. I think that my life wouldnââ¬â¢t turn a new page if I did not receive my motherââ¬â¢s support. Therefore, I always try my best to reach my dream and deserve my motherââ¬â¢s faith. Determination is one of my qualities which will help me reach my goal and one of the aspects of determination is hard work. I still remember the hard time I had when I tried to use a computer the first time. It was written in English and at that time, English was one of the courses I hated the most in school. But I liked computers more than anything else, so that I decided to study seriously. Every day, I tried to remember and understand ten computerââ¬â¢s vocabulary words. I tried to read book in English one page or two pages a day. That really was a hard time for me. It took me hours to complete two pages with help from a dictionary and I followed it day by day. After three months, I could read more than five pages in an hour because I knew more vocabulary than before. My computer skill also got better and I really enjoyed it. Another aspect of determination is persistence. Persistent people will not give up the things they follow or they believe in even if in front of them are a lot of difficulties. I am one a persistent person. For example, when I was in college, I had a difficult time with a programming course; it was too new for me. I could not understand at all and for that result I got only three points (out of 10) on the first exam. I wasnââ¬â¢t the only one who did badly; almost seventy percent of the students had the same grade like me. For that reason, almost half of the students gave up on that course after two months. But I did not give up so easily. I tried to understand and remember lessons in class. After school, I read a book, practiced at home on the material which our teacher showed us, and read the next lesson for the next day so that when I had a question, I could ask my teacher immediately. I believe that I can do better if I follow the things I believe in. Finally, I passed that course with 8. 5/10 on the final exam, whereas others students had to study again for the next semester. I think that hard work and persistence will still help me in the road to fulfill my dream. Passion for computers is also one of my qualities which will help me reach my goal. Since I knew how interesting computers are. I was excited by this machine. I had so many questions about this machine. I wondered how one machine could do so many things. However, computers were very expensive in the past; it was only for rich people and my family could afford it. My dream looked like impossible at that time, but the passion for computers in me did not let me stop thinking about it and it helped me believe in the future that I will have my own computer. The hope of having my own computer followed me in two years and finally my mother helped me make it come true. Since I have gotten my own computer, I have begun studying seriously; I knew what my dream is and what I need to do to make it come true. I borrowed books from my uncle and read it when I have free time. When I had a problem with my computer, I tried to fix it, but it was useless. My mother had to hire a computer engineer to fix it, and at that time fixing computer was very expensive. Therefore, I learned how to fix the computer by watching the engineer so that I will be able to do this myself in the future. Now, I am learning computers in the U. S. where the first computer was born. I believe that if we really love something we can achieve it by passion and hope. After read the article about Anupam Kumar and the road to fulfill his dream, I have more confident, hope, and power to make my dream come true. I am deeply gratitude my mother who did everything for me so that I have more opportunity to accomplish my dream. My experience with computers has taught me to be patient and persistent and never to give up. This is a lesson I can apply throughout my life ââ¬â not just for computers.
Facebook: Social Networking Site
Against ââ¬â Individuals connect through faceable to their co-workers or colleagues which helps them to remain up to date. ââ¬â Faceable is used to advertise products which are relatively new in the market and can be easily purchased through faceable. ââ¬â It is good way to update people about the recent events taking place nearby or in the world. ââ¬â Faceable being a quick and effective way of communicating (people separated by time zones) can not be termed as a time pass activity. ââ¬â Faceable teaches a lot of new aspects about different websites. Faceable is Just a fad that will pass Yes becauseâ⬠¦ No becauseâ⬠¦The Web Is something rich and strange and Faceable Is not Back in 1988 before the Web arrived we used to play a lot of image based games around the internet, passing encoded images back and forth and basically working hard to make some sense of this dark network where no-one could see anyone else. From that point on for me the internet and the web have been a rich and strange something unknowable to the sum total of where we worked and played. Faceable doesn't really do any of that. It's a nice tidy ââ¬Ëbur where everyone has more or less the same house, same garden, same car, same attitude.Sure, we can all add friends and Join networks and add applications, but it's always clear that there is no curtain behind which strange things might lurk. Faceable is the Auber controlled environment ââ¬â useful and wanted by many, but not pregnant with potentials. Faceable is more about the known than the unknown ââ¬â and that's a good thing. Who but the most insecure of us cares about having 429 ââ¬Ëfriends', most of whom we wouldn't talk to twice if we met them in real life. Faceable provides a way of connecting to the people you already know ââ¬â but for one reason or another don't stay in regular contact with.As we get older, settle down, have kids and spend more time at work, those little catch up chats or time s hanging out with friends dwindle to almost nothing. That's not to say you don't like the people you don't see as much, Just that they're not in your immediate circle and the genuine desire to ââ¬Ëmeet up soon' Just never gets realized. Faceable allows us to keep in contact with them through their status updates, when they add pictures, when someone they know tags them in a picture, when they add an app and ask a question ââ¬â or in a hundred other ways. This is a way of connecting to them and of ensuring we know what they're up to. It is therefore easier to send a quick note about their daughter or wish them a happy birthday. These small things break down the distance between us, they make the barrier of getting in touch smaller to cross ââ¬â and they make the real world meetings more easy to make happen. Furthermore, faceable lacks clarity in who you are actually becoming friends with Faceable is Just a fad that will pass There are only so many new people Faceable is ex periencing a huge wave of migration. This is held up as proof of the genius of Seersucker, and indeed in many ways they have played a blinder. From a closed College based network, they have taken a gamble to open up to anyone and everyone and seen it pay off begrime. The viral nature of Faceable is supreme, with member get member raised to a new artwork. Eve read dozens of articles about how all of someone's friends have arrived in Faceable in the very recent past, usually it looks safe in here and there are lush pastures for the cattle. Then everyone else takes up residence, and as they overlap with other social groups, the process repeats itself. There is something engaging and exciting about arriving in n easy to understand social network, with tools to explore and people to Poke (ooh, the underlying sexual thrill of it all, it reminds me of my first disco, I didn't know what that was all about either, but by God it turned me on). Face it, when someone invites you to Join Faceable and be their friend, its a cheap thrill to sign up and be that friend. If people want a social networking site there are millions, faceplate, hi, bebop, namespace etcâ⬠¦ Casebook IS a fad that will pass, as some person eventually will outdo it, one of these pages will take all it's features and make something better, as yuccas has done with bebop, as bebop has done with faceplate, etc.. Anyone could log onto namespace, and minus a few ââ¬Ëpokes', they can pretty much do the same, look at their friend's status updates, chat to their friends etc. Why should faceable be THE social networking site? And also, namespace is the site that seems to get all the hype for getting musicians noticed. So what's the fad for bands? Namespace!Faceable is Just a fad that will pass There Just are no sophisticated tools in Faceable I'm used to some level of sophistication in my tools. I don't mind using your online lolls, after all, it's your community. But ifs, all I can do in my Groups is write on the wall? And then you can write on the same wall back to me. I can upload photos? Every time someone does something, I get sent an email without the content. There Just are no sophisticated tools in Faceable ââ¬â everything is like a shallow version of what we're used to on the outside. For sure, the APS have started to put some depth back into the system, but it's hard to imagine that we'll en masses abandon our email and our IM and our other contact and memory tools and use the stubs that Faceable offers. Not for a while anyway, we'll get disillusioned and wonder off as our attention drifts. Getting an email without the content was annoying, though this has now changed, and there are bound to be other parts of the site which don't work as well as tools which are specifically designed for the Job.But if there is a demand for features not currently provided someone out there will provide them. And some of the features Faceable does provide, such as tagging photos, inviting o thers to events, and garnering support for a great cause, are great It's also worth considering the value of Faceable as a social aggregation tool for non- chess. Sure you're used to some sophisticated tools, but the majority of internet users aren't. They're people with non-technical Jobs who Just want things to work. Faceable works without anyone leaving the comfort of a great LU and the safety blanket known as a privacy controls. There are other colors I know this will sound very shallow and pathetic, but I really can't imagine living with #baobab only for the rest of my life. As someone who was working with the web when there was not even any right align, let alone fancy layouts or the CSS wonders we see today, it pains me to have to use such a limited interface. With respect, it is the sort of interface that the East German government would have commissioned for their citizen network if they had lived to see in the true glory of the web.Where I come from we call this color Navy Blue and with good reason, children grow up to hate it. Allied to the fixed layout, baobab is the antithesis of everything that design stands for and everything that the web has taught us ââ¬â that we are individuals and that we make and remake our environment to work with our needs and desires. Even Google, that great interface reducer, has relented and offered multiple funky interfaces to heir start pages. So what's with the fascist control freakier? Don't you trust me to change things the way I like ââ¬Ëme?Think I might, like, go mad with funky colors? So what, that's my freedom. Hammy, Faceable or Namespace which is the easiest to use? Given most people's inability to create a readable web page I'm happy that Faceable restricts the look of its pages to one recognizable format. Give people free reign over the look of their page and they'll go the flashy, blinks, confused way of Namespace. And there are friends I'd rather keep than lose for the knowledge of what they think looks cool. Call that a network? I live in Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, UK. So for some reason that's my network. It has 54,384 members who, I guess, live in Brighton and Hove. The total population of Brighton is 247,820, which means my network contains approximately one sixth of the entire population of this town. There are only 117032 15 to 44 year olds, which means that almost 50% of them are members of my local network. Huh? I mean, this is some kind of groovy town, but I find that rather unlikely. Every single sentient being between the ages of fifteen and forty-five in my town? I see I can go to a costume making event at pm or GUILFORD MONDAY UNITE at pm that's Guilford, not Brighton, but hey).Popular in Brighton and Hove includes the faceable wide food fight and Britton's Largest Water Fight. The Discussion Board has 164 discussion topics, starting with ââ¬ËHow Many Wap To Say I Love You? , but frankly life's too short. And then there's The Wall. 754 posts starting with a bit of spam from Ben Williams. To say the will to live deserted me at this point would be an exaggeration, but to say the will to live in Brighton and Hove fled my feeble frame Just about sums it up. Why am I in this network? I am a sophisticated online denizen, I partake of and participate n hundreds of online societies and for a of all kinds. Some are good, some are bad, some are essential to life. But none are as depressingly pointless as this all consuming Brighton and Hove Network. And yes, I know I can change my regional network, but what exactly would be the point of that? I quite like seeing my local friends' faces peering out at me from the sidebar ââ¬â but that's not quite enough to make it worthwhile. I guess this approach worked quite well when it was a college based network, but imagine what it is like to be a London or Shanghai network member ââ¬â they've elevated inanity to a whole new level.Faceable offers a unique perspective to social networking in that you can friend people you know and the people they know to an extent. I find Faceable most useful for college because it helps the organizations I'm a part of invite people to our events. I can also find out about other group's events on campus and even Join a greater cause to support Darker, let's say. I've been able to keep in touch with people I went to kindergarten with! Granted most of them went to school with me since eighth grade, but it's interesting to see where hey are based on how they were way when (the ass for us young folks). It's cool to see how they've changed and how they've stayed the same. I've also been able to keep in touch with high school friends who I get to visit a few times a year back in California while I go to school in Philly. No matter what my URL is I'm still unique. Having a long URL with a combination of random numbers and letters doesn't decrease individuality at all. Sure I have a lot of friends I don't really talk to and some I have never met, but at least it opens the door to a conversation: ââ¬Å"Hey we're Faceable friends, right? In fact I was walking down the street yesterday, no Joke, and I saw two of my friends with one of their friends. We'd never met, but we were Faceable friends through each other. It was great to meet the guy and get to know him in person as much as it is to get to Basically the regional network lets you see people in the same one as you and helps people know where you're from. I keep my network as Los Angles even though I go to school in Philly. It lets my friends know where I'm from. High school and college networks help you know who that person is trying to friend you and if you actually now them from somewhere. For now Faceable rocks. Let's hope it doesn't turn into another Namespace. Gaining Revenue for Networking Sites is Extremely Difficult Faceable, like Namespace, has not been able to successfully fund itself via advertisements. Click through rates are low, and Namespace has tried desperately t o salvage funds from these ads. Menace's home page is filled with ads that most users don't click on. Case in point: http://www. Businesslike. Com/technology/ content/ Feb../tc2008024 252834. HTML? Chant=search Unless Faceable can gain revenue from ads it will suffer and possibly go bankrupt.Faceable knows how old I am, what interests and hobbies I have, where I live, what my social network looks like and even what my educational and work history is. Are you telling me that's not a potential goldmine for advertising? Sure at the moment you get the generic breast enhancement and zany college t-shirt ads (or perhaps they're not generic and faceable has decided that's what I most want in life), which are going to generate as much response as any other banner and popup ads. But if Faceable can utilities it's main resource, information, it will make Microsoft's revenues look tiny.Faceable has been slow at incorporating music It can be argued by some that Faceable has taken over from Name space in terms of which is the better social networking site. Although this may be valid, there is one area in which Faceable is clearly lacking ââ¬â and that is music. One of the main building blocks of Namespace is the close links with music ââ¬â bands can have pages on which they are able to upload their music and reach out to a new crowd, members may add a song to their profile which gives other users more of an idea what the person likes and there is even the Namespace record label, getting physical copied of USIA out.Although Faceable are now beginning to add pages for artists, these are not as built on the foundation of music so it will be more difficult now to lure over music lovers from similar social networking sites (such as Namespace, Purposeful and Buzzed) that cater more to their tastes. Admittedly it would seem that, thanks to it's emphasis on music, Namespace is more popular amongst wannabe rock stars than Faceable. On the other hand almost every university st udent in the I-J (and I'm assuming the US, Australia etc) has a faceable account, in 10 to 15 years time that will mean that he majority of the best paid 50% of society in the English speaking world have faceable accounts. Let's see which contributes better to the long term survival of the respective business models. People have been put off by scandals concerning identity fraud If a ââ¬Ëfad', then Passbook's passing will only have been hastened by the widespread concerns over identity theft as reported in the UK national press.Perhaps more importantly, people have grown increasingly aware and scrutinizing of Passbook's capacity to allow potential employers to ââ¬Ësnoop' on one's character as an employment suitability exercise. In short, people grow less and less eager to share their lives on the web, curiously perhaps because Faceable has been thrown open to wider and wider groups of people. Privacy controls? My friends get annoyed that they can't trawl idly through photos of me surging drunkenly at a camera, but it means I'm less likely to get fired in the future. And I also highly suspect that the potential employer snooping is a little bit of an urban myth, seeing as even if you drag all the privacy slider bars down to their minimum your profile is still only visible to those in your network. Just bad luck if you .NET to the same Nun as your prospective boss I guess. If celebrities are punished more severely then surely other influential people should also be. There are many people within society who make huge decisions regarding our country and who have the potential to endanger thousands of lives with their decisions if those decisions were influenced by drugs and alcohol. It has been speculated for many years that highly trained professionals such as consultant doctors, airline pilots, and managing directors who have huge responsibilities also punished for their influential status surely it would only be fair to find these individuals as well and se verely punish them ? There is a trend and acceptance regarding drug taking among celebrities but celebrities lives often require them to speak in front of millions of people, they are Judged constantly by society and the media and anything short on perfection is publicly ridiculed. It might be that they choose this fate for fame and fortune however if other people who benefit from this national recognition are found to be taking drugs this argument implies they too should be punished and although it might be wrong for these people to take drugs ND alcohol I doubt that our country would work in the same way if these people were punished in a way that prohibited them from working for an extended period of time. Many of our greatest, artists, musicians and composers took a wide and varied selection of drugs some of which used these substances to influence their work. How in this day and age can we separate artist from celebrity. This point does not even remotely relate to faceable will h ave a large impact on coming generationsâ⬠¦ Face book and other socio s will probably be adding to the knowledge of the youths all over the world especially the teens.. TTS the time when the teenagers absorb the special interest on getting connected through some or the other way with their friends and contactsâ⬠¦. What is actually binding everyone to face book is the likes of its easy and simple networking process . Ace book uses a very simple way of connecting a person to another which makes it a very advanced and widely proffered compared to the others. Faceable with its such wide network would be difficult to end or quit but surely be fading out because of advancements and dynamism in peoples lives. It helps me to communicate and stay in touch with friends However you have to have the acceptance of the friend you wish to be in contact with. In any case, some day, another site will pop up that makes it Just as easy to communicate with people, and everyone will flock to tha t.Namespace usage plummeted when Faceable became popular, and when another ââ¬Å"next big thingâ⬠emerges, no doubt Faceable usage will go the same way. It's accusable and easy, it's a free way to remain in touch with people. Internationally especially. It enables people to get in touch with old friends If you've fallen out of touch with people it's usually for good reasons. Not to say that our old friends are bad people Just that you've both moved in different directions. I've had a few different emails from long-lost friends and after the initial wonder of seeing them again there's not much which really connects us.You can find people that you haven't been in contact with for years, or maybe went to school with. Faceable is good too for students based in a university environment as they can keep in touch with friends, online. Not only at university, but School contacts too. Its a useful way to find out how your school friends have got on in life and to even arrange a reunion . If, after all, relationships made in school fizzled out once the connection of going to school together is lost ââ¬â they wouldn't have added you would they?As a university student, faceable is simply, but wonderfully, a device to contact friends about meeting up, homework etc rather than spending phone credit by testing. Faceable. A cheapskates haven. It's free and easily accessible What's wrong with calling them or going to visit them. We spend far too much of our time online and far too little in the real world. Faceable Just makes this worse. Faceable is ââ¬Ëat home in your boxers' Faceable is not real world socializing. People should hang out and visit friends not scribble something on their ââ¬Ëwall' or go ââ¬Ëpoking' around complete strangers. It is cost effective and has made keeping in touch with my friends from home while I'm at nun much easier. Also sometimes real-time communication is less than practical. If someone lives in a different time-zone it may be difficult to Just phone the person. People invest too much time in Faceable to let go. The same was said of Namespace and Friends before it. Faceable is an addiction that will run out of steam and it is one that annoys many schools colleges and universities, so much so that is has been banned from being accessed either completely or during teaching hours.I think faceable possibly has a time and a place but it annoys me when people are taking up computer suites Just to chat, applicant or poke people on faceable. Students are the biggest users of faceable and spend hours on it unknown to them that half the day has gone. I think it is something which Faceable has its pros and its cons. However, the matter of fact is that most Faceable users spend hours, days, weeks and even months customizing their profiles, finding rinds, adding photos and videos, creating groups and events. This is a heavy investment and most users will never seriously consider closing their faceable accounts.People have begun to identify themselves with their Faceable profiles. Hence, it is close to impossible for people to Just get off Faceable. Passbook's Terms of Service ensures that people's social information never leaves the walls of Faceable and therefore the social network will remain very popular and influential. Faceable has many practical applications and raises many more concerns. We have read quite a few of these in this debate. However, the question remains whether ââ¬Å"Faceable is a fad that will Just passâ⬠. I beg to differ.Social Networking is a whole new form of communication, of which Faceable is the most successful. Your argument is invalid. Did you even read the topic before posting? Its not saying social networking will die out, its saying (like namespace) Faceable will fade to the next amazing social networking site If you want to communicate with someone, in the old days you would either talk face to face or send a letter. Then came the telephone. Then came email s, further revolutionaries communications. Now there is social networking. Social networking is different. It can be very private, or very public.People have their own ââ¬Ëspace' or ââ¬Ëprofile' online, which people can search for as long as they know the persons name. No number or address is required or needs to be stored (and potentially lost). When you have a persons profile, you can add them as a friend in order to socially interact with them ââ¬â which they must accept to facilitate the interaction (ensuring mutual consent of communications). When you are friends with someone, you can invite them to an event (along with an assortment of any or all of our friends) with a single click, and dispense information about that event. You can publicly display as much or little personal information about yourself as you wish. You can write on people's walls to tell them information, which other people will freely be able to see. Suddenly people become so much more informed withi n their social circles, and for a social animal this is broadly positive. Faceable facilitates the spread of social information (or gossip) and people often consider faceable profiles to be an authority on a person (whether they are in a relationship, etc).
